Born and raised in California and the U.K., Elizabeth Ann Peer began her love of traveling at a very young age. She decided to combine her love of writing and interest in new cultures to pursue a career in international journalism.
Positions as news editor at both her high school and college newspapers led her to journalism work both in and outside the United States. Elizabeth Ann gained local news experience covering crime, local personalities and events and higher education for the Marin Independent Journal (Marin County, CA) and Columbia Missourian (Columbia, MO). She has also written about advances in technology in the stock market and banking fields for CMP Media (now UBM) and local NYC events for an upscale travel guide during summer internships.
Beginning in high school, Elizabeth Ann combined her interests in foreign languages and journalism through an internship at Le Journal Francais, the largest French language publication in the U.S. After graduating from college, she worked for the United Nations in Brussels as a media intern for the U.K./Ireland Desk at its main European information center known as UNRIC, and later as a correspondent for MediaGlobal, a media organization focused on the developing world at the UN’s headquarters in New York City. While at the Missouri School of Journalism, she worked as an assistant editor for Global Journalist, a magazine that covers global press freedom issues. She recently interned at Global Information Network, a non-profit media organization focused on news in the developing world, to complete her final research project for her master’s degree based on the same topic. She ultimately hopes to work abroad in a foreign news bureau covering international issues.
Elizabeth Ann is currently open to freelance work and can be contacted at eapeer at gmail.com.
